Cryo mouse wheel performance.

But while testing the wheel, I was reminded of something I'd been meaning to post about.

The Cyro mouse wheel sometimes seems to miss a rotation: if I turn the mouse wheel up or down by just one click, sometimes the input is missed. I don't think it happens often when I'm turning faster, but it's hard to be certain of that.

Just to be sure something else wasn't going on, I tried the same slow 1-click scroll on another mouse several times and never saw it fail to detect the scroll.

Is this normal or is some part of the wheel/sensor possibly defective?

It should work with every turn.
Try dripping a bit of electrical cleaner down the gap, see if that helps.

I am having exactly the same issues with my mouse wheel. I have loaded the new patch...did not work....
What can be done to fix this problem?

Try dripping a bit of electrical cleaner down the gap, see if that helps.
If it doesn't, you`ll have to email us on info@azeron.eu, the encoder could be causing issues.

So I tried some cleaner. I used deoxit Fader F5 (which works great at restoring things like guitar pick-up switches that have stopped working due to corrosion on the concatcts). However, it did not help - I am still able to recreate a skipped rotation when moving slowly.

I have further characterized the situation, though. It seems that if my finger asserts a bit of downward pressure on the button (as if I were just barely starting to click a middle mouse button were the cyro to have a push switch integrated with the scroll wheel, which of course it does not), then the problem is easy to reproduce.

Note I am not pressing hard - this is the sort of downward pressure I might exert naturally when scrolling during a game. Of course, in a game, I probably wouldn't be scrolling this slowly, but it's hard to say if it happens with fast scrolls of more than 1 click. It might be happening, but most of the clicks are detected, so it's hard to notice if the problem happened.

You can open the module up and try applying the Fader directly on the encoder.
Other than that, it would have to be replaced
