I'm pretty fresh user of the Cyborg but I feel like after using it for about a month with Azeron Software and a week with reWASD trial I'd like to share my thoughts here in a form of comparison of sorts. I'll start with what I believe Azeron does better than reWASD:
- UI/UX
I just find AS so much simpler, cleaner and more straightforward. reWASD has tons of some tiny icons that don't have an obvious "on the first glance" purpose. - Pricing
Well, that's no brainer it's free but paying for software is not really what I have problem with. What I have problem with is reWASD pulling an Adobe move and moving to subscription. They left the lifetime option for now but as far as I understand there is no guarantee that you won't have to switch to subscription eventually or pay the full price again (which is frankly quite riddiculous imo) to get access to new feature. And while 50 buck wouldn't break my bank I would feel bad supporting that. - Performance
AS runs better, reWASD ui starts long enough for me to die in helldivers before I can figure out why I have wrong profile active, that's it, thats my whole point.
- Layering
The biggest pain in my buttholes. I really wish the Layering worked like a typical layer shift known from QMK, Steam Input, reWASD etc. where I can just select what to override while holding a specific button. Instead it switches the entire profile which means that I have to meticulously sync settings that I want to be the same between profiles it's also possible for a wrong profile to get stuck if you juggle 3 or more layers. That also means that I can't have a button which does layer shift while at the same time working as for example ctrl button (for stratagems in helldivers, had to get really creative with custom programming to emulate that behavior smh) - Some extension/plugin system or at least an API
I'm working on a soft that'd let me quickly check my mapping through ingame overlay. It's doable, I have software profiles and the last used one in the store.db file, but can't access hardware profiles, it'd also be nice to be able to configure all Azeron stuff from one app.
