I’m interested in the Cyborg II product, but I don’t have it yet.
I have some questions about the software and the button binding options (and speed).

Goal:
Have access to 40 key bindings during a fast pace game.

Idea:
Switch OBM (On Board Memory) profiles during the game.

How:
* Button X always switches to profile #1.
* Button Y always switches to profile #2.
where X and Y are buttons of my choice.

In each profile, the button binding would be:
* In profile #1, button X switches to profile #1.
* In profile #1, button Y switches to profile #2.
* In profile #2, button X switches to profile #1.
* In profile #2, button Y switches to profile #2.
Yes, it might seem redundant, but finger muscle memory would be consistent.

Concluding Questions:
* Can this be done?
* Will the profile switching be fast? (i.e. switch to other profile, click one or two buttons, then switch back)
* Other thoughts?

What you are looking for is layering, which is only available on the software profiles.

It can be done in the software profiles.
Switching is as fast as you press the buttons. You can also have the switched profile on hold, whilst the button is held, as soon as you release the layer button it would jump back to primary profile
