the grounding wire at fault.

Sometimes temperature changes make parts expand or contract so the wire might lose connection.

Unplug your USB first, then open up the palmrest by unscrewing the 3 deep recessed screws underneath the Azeron, then lift the palmrest off your keypad. Inspect the wires if everything seems connected. Check for your non-functioning key in this circuit diagram: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1axo-aO__DAPN0JLOLPwUEd83HLnrzD6jn3QIbucUIO4/edit?usp=sharing

Disconnect the wire for that key and re-connect it again, making sure the wire is making a clean contact, no hair wires stray from the blanc cable, and no insulation is stuck in the screw-in clamp.
You can plug in your USB again while the palmrest is open to test the key, just make sure you are not touching any of the wires or board while your Azeron is plugged in.

*look for the grounding wire that is coming from the middle finger tower

I had a similar issue with my device a while back, and it turned out to be a loose connection as you mentioned. It's definitely worth checking the wires and ensuring everything is securely connected. If you’re comfortable with it, following the steps you outlined should help troubleshoot the problem.

Try reconnecting the device and checking in Azeron Software if the middle buttons register under the “Test” tab. If they don’t, perform a firmware reflash or factory reset. If that doesn’t help, contact Azeron support — this kind of failure within a month should be covered under warranty.
